The rain was still pounding away Wednesday afternoon behind the added threat of a flash-flood warning for foothill neighborhoods near Station fire burn areas. But as of just before 6 p.m., no damage had been reported in the area.

Getting our budget under control is my top priority this year. Like many Californians, I’m tired of the ‘every six month band aides’ we’ve been using for short term solutions. We need to embrace significant budget reform. That’s why I’m reintroducing a pay-as-you-go Constitutional Amendment to force fiscal discipline and prioritization on the budget process. Pay Go will force California to live within its means and encourage us to look for savings.

Float starts to come together

Volunteers with the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association were hard at work Wednesday welding frames, spaying foam and even keeping the books — all part of a painstaking yearlong process to bring the city’s 33rd annual Rose Parade float entry to life on time for New Year’s Day.
