App of the Week: Words with Friends
Joshua Courter | Jul 22, 2010 |
Words with Friends is a great app for all scrabble fans that own an iphone, itouch, or ipad. Users can not only play a scrabble game locally, but online with friends and family. With no time limits or penalties for making a move, users can play as they have time. A game could end up taking several minutes to several days depending on how both users respond when it is their turn. One of the many great features is being able to play multiple games at once! Up to 20 games can be played at once. There is also a built in chat/messaging service between players.
So how much does it cost? There are two versions of the app; paid and free. The paid version removes all advertisements from the game ($2.99). The free version has advertisements with a small banner at the bottom of the screen and whenever a user makes a move and passes the turn to the other player, a full page add comes up each time. Both versions are full versions, so if advertisements don’t bother you then grab the free one.
